Chapter One

Her heart started racing as they went down the elevator. Stacey didn't want to leave her mom and her mom didn't want to let her baby go. As they walked to the bus stop, Stacey saw this little girl who seemed like she was the same age. Standing inside the TTC bus shelter, she saw this little girl almost about to cry. Stacey and her mother walks toward them and the father of this little girl says,
"See, look at that little girl, she isn't crying. There is nothing to worry about honey."

"Bu-bu-but I don't know anyone. What if I am alone all day? I really want you to come with me!"

"I'm sorry but I can't. I need to work."

Stacey felt bad for this little girl so she whispers to her mom saying,
"Mom, I think she's scared"

"Why don't you go talk to her. Maybe she is going to go to the same school as you."

"O-o-okay."

So Stacey turns around and says to the little girl,
"Hi, my name is Stacey and this is my mom. Are you going to school for the first time too?"

"Hi..." she replied, "I-I-I'm Melissa. This is my dad. Ya I am going to St. Gabriel's for the very first time."

Stacey turns to her mom and tugs on her shirt asking,
"Is that the school I am going to, ma?"

"Yes baby it is."

"Hey! Me too. Are you taking the little bus too??" says Stacey

"Yeah! I am!"

"Hey, let's go and play while we wait for the bus."

"Okay. What do you want to play?"

"Well, I have a skipping rope in my bag. Do you know how?"

"No," pouted Melissa.

"I can teach you! It's really easy! Let's go!"

"Okay."

As Melissa and Stacey dropped their new backpacks and played outside close by, their parents got to know eachother. They realized that they share the same ethnicity and they live in the same building on the same floor!

"Hi, I'm Alyiah by the way, or Alley for short."

"Nice to meet you Abbey," the father says holding his hand out, "I'm Ray."

Alley took his hand, shakes it and says, "Nice to meet you too. I think our daughters will be great friends"

"Oh, I agree. They seem to already get along great!"

"I believe so."

"Would you like to bring Stacey over one time so they can play."

"Oh, of course! Thank you. And look, the bus is coming."

"Melissa! Come and get your bag, the bus is coming!"

"You too Stacey! Hurry!"

"Oh no," says Melissa, "We have to go to school now."

"I know. Now I'm excited! And don't worry, I'll be with you all the time." replies Stacey.

So the small yellow school bus slowly approaches them and there were other kids there that was their age. They chose a seat that was in the middle and made sure it was on the side where they can say goodbye to their parents.

"Bye Mom!" waved Stacey.

"Bye Dad!" yelled Melissa.

They saw their parents wave back and the bus driver told them not to worry. She put on the extra long seatbelt on and said,
"My name is Judy. If you ever need anything just raise your hand and call my name."

"Okay!" the two young girls said.

The bus ride was kind of long. It stopped four more times to pick up other little girls and boys and Judy the busdriver must have repeated her name ten times. They finally came to a stop and Judy turned off the engine.

"We are here boys and girls! Welcome to your new school."

"YAY!!!" yelled all the children.

"Now, everyone stay seated until I come and click off your seatbelts. When I click them off, get up really slowly and stand in line one behind the other and walk down the stairs carefully. Don't push or shove! And don't forget anything on the bus! Have a fun first day!"

So Judy went row by row and clicked off each seatbelt. Melissa and Stacey waited so quietly and patiently. Stacey looked over at Melissa and could tell that she was getting worried again.

"Melissa, don't worry. We will have a lot of fun."

"I know. But I really miss my mommy and daddy."

"You know what my mommy said? She said that if I don't think about them, then the day will be over before I know it and I will see her again."

"I guess I could try it."

At the bottom of the yellow school bus' stairs, there was a woman helping the new students get down. They told them to stand in a circle. When each child was off the bus, this woman walked over to the middle of the circle.

"Hello boys and girls. My name is Mrs. Rancatti and I am your new Junior Kindergarten teacher."

"Hi Mrs. Rancatti." said some boys and girls.

"Would you all like to go inside and see your new classroom?"

"Yesssss," they all said in unison.

"Okay. But we all have to stand in a line. One behind the other. And no pushing and shoving!"

The students quickly got into line without pushing. Melissa and Stacey made sure they were always together. She took them in side through these huge, heavy teal doors. As they went inside, she held her finger to her lips and said,
"Okay boys and girls this is the office. You have to stay very quiet when you are here. There are people that are on the phone and they need to hear what the person is saying. This is where you go if you ever don't feel good."

"Like if we have a tummy ache!?" yelled Eric.

"Shhhhh! Yes, dear like a tummy ache."

So Mrs. Rancatti continued to take them down a hallway and they went through more teal doors. "Can you hold this please dear for the other little boys and girls?"

" Okay."

"Stay in line boys and girls!"

Epilouge

It all started Marth 18th, 1993. A young girl named Stacey was born and little did she know, her life would be fillied with many rollar coasters. She lived in an apartment that was perfect for her, her mom and her dad. As time went by, she started school and met a lot of great people.
"Why do I have to go to school mom? I know how to read." claimed Stacey
"I know you can honey, but school is much more than reading. They will teach you a lot of new things. Don't worry about a think, I am sure you will be fine. And besides, you are only going for half a day. It'll be over before you know it." replied Stacey's mom.
